Jordan’s controversial run out England Vs Bangladesh
We all know by now that the English cricket team is officially out of the ICC 2015 cricket world cup. It is sad but the Bangladesh team played excellent cricket and deserved a win. Their luck helped them as well in the form of Jordan’s run out.
For Bangladesh it was a blessing from disguise but for England it was something very annoying. Jordan’s run out was a controversy that led to a debate of umpiring quality in this world cup. Jordan was given out by the third umpire.
England were in complete mess when Jordan went in there and he is known to be a big hitter for the cricket ball and England wanted him to fire in order to grab the match. Jordan tried to sneak a single on the off side but was sent back by his partner.
Shakib was fielding at the covers who ran in and threw the ball under arm towards the stumps. It was a direct hit but Jordan was seen as if he has made his ground. A big dive from the big fellow was there before the bat hit the stumps.
The umpires call for a reply and referred the appeal towards the third umpire. This is the part where the controversy all started the dive that Jordan made enabled him to reach well within the batting crease but when he hit the ground his bat went up in the air for a moment.
When the ball hit the stumps his lower half of the bat was in the air for sure but the splice end was touching the ground. Here the commentators gave their own views and most of them agreed that this should be given in favor of batsman.
There was an element of doubt about the upper end of the bat touching the ground or not and the benefit of doubt gets in the favor of the batsman but the umpire stunned everyone when he gave Jordan out.
The commentators called it a poor decision and Jordan was furious with it. He went back and was seen clearly unhappy about it. He on his way talked to some official about it as well. It was indeed one of the turning points of the match.
