Australia: No one would believe that in present there are few tribes of Australia which cure dead bodies to make mummies. These tribes use dead bodies or mummies for their protection as they believe the spirits of dead ones will protect their tribes from evil spirits and their village will remain secure from any kind of disasters.
Can you imagine in countries like Australia, there are such tribes which treated the dead bodies of loved ones in that manner? Surely, you won’t believe it until you see it with your own eyes because even the people living in Australia don’t know the existence of such tribes and neither have they known about curing the dead bodies.
In modern world you won’t expect people curing dead bodies for protection like in ancient Egypt people used to cure bodies of their kings and buried them in temples. These mummies are found in 20th centuries and they way ancient Egyptian preserved the bodies are very remarkable. After thousands of years these mummies are still in good condition.
The way of curing and preserving dead bodies adopted by these tribes of Papua New Guinea is very strange and seems unethical as compare to ancient Egyptian. When a person dies, the leader of tribe orders the fellow people to cut down the upper skin of body and bring out the eyes. The ears, mouth, eyes and ears are stitched which prevent air going into the body.
Once the stitches are done, the body of dead person is tied with rope and then burn over low heat. The body is burnt lightly on each side and once it is accomplished the people of tribe muck the body with mud and hang it with bamboo at the entry point of village with other bodies.
It has become the tradition of these tribes to treat the dead bodies like that and they claim having oldest dead body protecting the village from centuries. These cured and hanged dead bodies are now known as mummies of Australia which annoy the world a lot.
