Life threat to Shaista Wahidi due to Blasphemy.
After ARY News host Mubasher Lucman accused Geo’s morning show of airing blasphemous content attacks on the channel have escalated causing TV host Shaista Wahidi to consider fleeing the country in response to repeated death threats.
Within hours of Mubasher Lucman’s television show which propelled the issue in to the limelight Utho Jago Pakistan’s Shaista Wahidi made a public apology stating any offence was inadvertent and unintentional. Unfortunately, the apology has been met with scorn and skepticism by many.
And as the hate against Geo increases, employees fear for their lives. Wahidi who has two sons and one daughter has said that she is not willing to risk her family. She is reportedly considering moving out of Pakistan until the situation calms down.
On the other hand, Geo TV has suspended Utho Jago Pakistan team and Shaista Wahidi for their Wednesday’s episode that has hurt the sentiments of many Pakistanis.
The TV network has also launched an inquiry to probe the issue.
And even channel’s popular religious host Aamir Liaquat has urged the nation to forgive Wahidi and team Utho Jago Pakistan for their mistake.
And he has also requested other channels to stop highlighting this incident as it was a terrible mistake.
